The Adam Smith Club will host a meeting on Wednesday the 30th of September 2015, at Bohéme Restaurant Bar, 368 Bridge Road, Richmond.

Fiona Patten is the founder and leader of the Australian Sex Party and a Member of the Victorian Legislative Council for the Northern Metropolitan region. Before being elected, she was best known as the CEO of Australia’s national adult goods and services lobby group, the Eros Association. She ran a number of high profile campaigns in this role, many of which saw off bans on adult material, restrictions on sexual behaviour and a focus on the real villains involved in sexual abuse. Frustrated and deeply disappointed with the lack of social change on censorship, drug law reform, euthanasia and gay marriage, she set up and registered the Australian Sex Party in 2009 with a strong focus on civil libertarian and personal freedom issues. She became the first political leader to call for a Royal Commission into child sex abuse in religious institutions.

Senator David Leyonhjelm on
“Has Australia’s Libertarian Time Arrived?”

The Adam Smith Club will host a meeting on Thursday the 13th of November, 2014 – at the Park Conference Room, Ground Floor, Amora Hotel 649 Bridge Rd, Richmond.

David Leyonhjelm is a vet, with a law degree and an MBA. He has worked as a columnist for agricultural magazines and for the national financial press. Originally from Heywood, Victoria, now residing in Sydney, Senator Leyonhjelm has boxed the compass politically in trying to find a home for his strong views on personal liberty and limited government. Starting with Young Labor and a stand against the draft, then working for the Liberal interest until the Howard Government’s changed policy on Gun ownership, then working with Shooters Party until he found them too narrow in focus.

The senator ran the national campaigns for the Liberal Democratic Party in 2007, 2010 & 2013 – and was successful in gaining a six year term starting 1st July this year for NSW.

This meeting will be in a different format to normal – a finger food then speech – starting 6.15pm – speech on the dot of 7pm.
